The Veridea Team
Tom Hendrickson, President of Lookout Ventures, Inc. is the Master Developer of Veridea. He has assembled and positioned Veridea for international recognition and success, building a team of industry leaders in sustainability, environmental conservation, transportation and new urbanist planning principles to lay the foundation for a world class development.
Terry Shook and his team at Shook Kelley, Inc. have been retained to assist in the Master Planning, Placemaking, branding and creation of a custom form-based municipal development code (Sustainable Development Conditional Zoning District (SD-CZ) and Sustainable Development Plan) that can be adopted by the Town of Apex and applied to Veridea. Terry Shook is a sought-after national speaker within the Urban Land Institute and routinely lectures on land use topics at Harvard University.
William McDonough + Partners has been involved in identifying critical energy, water and design standards and components, and will provide their internationally respected support for the project to ensure the pre-determined sustainable principles are appropriately addressed. The work of William McDonough + Partners is the gold standard in the world of sustainable design. McDonough has been a leader in the sustainable development movement since its inception and writes and speaks extensively on his design philosophy and practice. He is the winner of three U.S. presidential awards: the Presidential Award for Sustainable Development (1996), the National Design Award (2004); and the Presidential Green Chemistry Challenge Award (2003). Time magazine recognized him as a "Hero for the Planet" in 1999, stating that "his utopianism is grounded in a unified philosophy that – in demonstrable and practical ways – is changing the design of the world." McDonough and his team have set the goals and principles that guide the planning of Veridea and will guide the sustainability agenda and planning once the entitlement is established. Both Shook and McDonough are Fellows of the American Institute of Architects (FAIA).
